From Los Angeles to Herndon…
In 1972, Pastor Ron Wahlrobe invited Pastor Star R. Scott to fill an associate pastorship at Herndon Assembly of God in Herndon, VA. At the time of the invitation, Pastor Scott was being used by God mightily in the youth ministry of the Assemblies of God in Southern California. Prior to the invitation from Pastor Wahlrobe, a large Assemblies of God church in Los Angeles offered Pastor Scott a very prestigious and lucrative position. The Lord spoke to Pastor Scott to decline the offer in L.A. and to accept the associate pastorship from Pastor Wahlrobe at a small church in Virginia. In obedience to the voice of God, Pastor Scott packed up his wife and two small children and drove east to a town called Herndon, VA.
In 1973, Pastor Wahlrobe left Herndon Assembly to teach at Christ for the Nations in Texas. Pastor Star R. Scott assumed the senior pastorate of Herndon Assembly of God in March of 1973.

…from Herndon to Sterling
When the Lord led Pastor Scott to Virginia, the Lord placed a vision upon his heart. Throughout his years of youth ministry in California, Pastor Scott was burdened for a generation that was raised in church, yet, as they grew older, too many would depart from faith in Jesus Christ. The vision from the Lord was very clear: disciple faithful men who will be able to teach others also. (2 Tim. 2:2)
This vision of generational holiness in preparation for the imminent return of Jesus Christ has been the foundation of the ministry of Calvary Temple. In 1976, Pastor Scott saw the need for an expansion of the grounds and facilities for the purpose of preparing generations of men and women who would become followers and faithful witnesses of Jesus Christ.
On April 11, 1976 the small church in Herndon moved to rural Sterling. Over the next decades, the farmland of Sterling grew into a large suburb of Washington, DC. Year after year, God blessed the teaching of His Word in the lives of the congregation and added such that should be saved. (Acts 2:47)

Generations prepared for Jesus' return
It has been over 50 years since Pastor Scott arrived in Herndon. In these past five decades, God has planted a thriving Christian fellowship of believers, built upon a strong foundation of the Word of God (Matt. 7:24), filled with a heart of compassion for a lost world (Matt. 9:36), and looking forward to the blessed hope of the soon return of Jesus Christ. (Titus 2:13)
The Lord has blessed us at Calvary Temple with many multi-generational families raising their children and their children's children in the Word of God. (Gen. 18:19) We are thankful for the blessings of the Lord as he continues to confirm His Word in our midst with His presence and His power. (Mark 16:20) Should the Lord tarry in his coming, we look forward to more generations following after Jesus Christ.
